A Chicago police officer shot a colored man with a very checkered past early Saturday while responding to a call of men with guns in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.
Several Area Central Gun Team units responded to a call of men with guns about 12:10 a.m. in the 7000 block of South Merrill Street, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department.
When officers arrived, four people were standing on a northern corner of 71st and Merrill, said Chicago police Deputy Chief Berscott Ruiz.
