Milwaukee police and other law enforcement agencies are investigating an incident involving a Wauwatosa officer who was shot on the city's northwest side.
The shooting, which left a Wauwatosa police officer injured, took place Friday morning near 60th and Hustis Street.
Milwaukee police tweeted that the officer was investigating a burglary in the 7100 block of North 60th Street when the shooting occurred.
Police said the officer's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Police are searching for a man who ran from the scene. He is described as a black man in his mid-20s, about 5'9" to 6' tall, with a thin build and a long ponytail. He was last seen wearing dark pants and a dark shirt, police said.
Law enforcement officers with multiple agencies, including the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, Milwaukee police, and Brown Deer police, are in an area investigating near Good Hope, between 51st and 60th street.
