The Spokane City Council held a unanimous vote to remove Dolezal from a spot on the city’s police oversight board on Thursday, according to KREM-TV in Spokane. She had refused calls to resign after a report accused her of revealing confidential information she learned while on the board and that she created a hostile work environment.
A second member of the committee who was named in the report that accused Dolezal of improper conduct accepted calls to resign, while a third is still reviewing the investigation, according to KREM.
Dolezal’s story was thrust into the spotlight this month after Spokane learned its NAACP leader was not African-American, as she had claimed. Dolezal has said since that, though "Caucasian by birth," she identifies as black culturally and that she struggled with her identity.
She resigned as president of the chapter on Monday.
