A home shopping channel for firearms and relevant accessories called Gun TV is scheduled to launch in early 2016.
The channel, which will film in a studio in California's Coachella Valley, plans to launch with six hours of daily programming and later expand to 24/7 programming, according to the Desert Sun newspaper. The programming will initially air between 1 and 7 a.m.
As The Guardian reported, a wholesaler will ship the firearm to the buyer's closest federally licensed gun retailer. The retailer will then complete the mandatory background checks and other paperwork.
The channel plans to sell ammunition, accessories and apparel, according to reports.
“We saw an opportunity in filling a need, not creating one," a channel co-founder told the Guardian. "The vast majority of people who own and use guns in this country, whether it’s home protection, recreation or hunting, are responsible."
Well I guess we can take some solace in the fact that there will at least be background checks.
After all it's not like a person who legally purchased a firearm, and successfully passed a background check, has ever murdered somebody.
Oh.....wait.
So I guess gun related deaths are not ending any time soon, right?
There is now going to be a home shopping channel dedicated to selling guns. Oh joy.
