Chicago State University President Thomas Calhoun Jr., who lasted just nine months in the job, will receive $600,000 as part of a separation agreement approved by university trustees Friday morning.
Trustees voted 6-1 to accept Calhoun's resignation at a packed board meeting Friday morning where irate students, staff and faculty who supported Calhoun heckled the board. Student Trustee Paris Griffin voted against it. "I did speak for you," Griffin said to the crowd.
Trustees named Cecil Lucy, the university's vice president for administration and finance, as the interim president as people in the crowd turned their backs toward the board and chanted, "Shame! Shame!"
