Alejandro Rodriguez, 32, of the 400 block of Sperry Court, is charged with one count of aggravated battery, a class 3 felony, in the incident.
At 1:37 a.m. Sunday, police went to Emmanuel School in the 400 block of Jackson Street and found a 39-year-old man on the floor bleeding from the head, according to police reports. A number of people were still there, many of them upset because of the incident, according to police reports.
Police said they found Rodriguez in a red Ford SUV parked in the school's lot.
According to those attending the wedding party, the event was ending at 1 a.m. and the remaining alcohol was being given to some of the guests to take home, according to police reports.
An argument broke out between some of the guests and escalated into a physical fight, police said. Witnesses said they saw Rodriguez hit a man in the head with a glass bottle of El' Presidente Brandy, according to police reports.
One woman told police she had also been struck in the face by Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was uncooperative and would not provide a statement, according to police reports.
The man allegedly hit with the bottle was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center with a 3-inch cut on the back of his head that required staples to close, a golf ball-size welt on the left side of his head and a cut on the bridge of his nose, according to police reports.
The Kane County state's attorney's office approved the felony aggravated battery charge against Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is in the County Jail with bail set at $15,000, according to the jail's website. He is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Friday in Room 217 at the county courthouse in St. Charles.
