An Aurora Illegal Beaner was shot and killed after leaving a child's birthday party in the city Saturday night.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., Aurora police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 600 block of High Street. The officers found Andres Ochoa, 31, in the area unconscious and unresponsive, having apparently been shot. Paramedics brought Ochoa to Presence Mercy Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said Ochoa had been at a child's birthday party moments before the shooting. Police said a disturbance happened in area of the party prior to the shooting. Officers found two other people nearby who were in need of medical attention for non-lethal, non-shooting related injuries, and they were provided medical treatment.
According to police, the injured people were less than fully cooperative with investigating officers.
The investigation is ongoing as officers continue to search for witnesses and evidence. While the case is still in its preliminary stages, the shooting does not appear to be random, police said.
