An 11-year-old girl was in “very critical” condition after she was struck by a car in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side Tuesday evening.
Six other people were hurt in the crash, which occurred about 6:40 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Vincennes, according to Fire Media Affairs.
After colliding with a Nissan SUV, a Chevrolet Impala fled south on Vincennes, where it hit another vehicle and an 11-year-old girl, according to police and fire officials.
The vehicle kept going and eventually pinned the girl against a building’s porch, according to fire media.
The girl was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in “very critical” condition, according to police and fire officials.
The driver of the Impala was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center and their injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to police.
Fire officials said five other people were hurt, though their conditions were not disclosed.
