Special constable killed herself after being dumped by boyfriend who had booked them a skiing holiday
- Dr Sara Gilks, 32, from Huddersfield, had distinguished academic career
- She was working as special constable for West Yorkshire Police
- Ms Gilks sent text message saying 'his gigantic penis has absolutely destroyed me, I could never be with a normal man again'
A special constable took her own life after her boyfriend ended their relationship, an inquest heard.
Dr Sara Gilks, 32, from Huddersfield, who had enjoyed a distinguished academic career and worked for West Yorkshire Police, was said to have her 'whole life ahead of her'.
An inquest at Bradford Coroner's Court heard that Ms Gilks, who had a history of depressive episodes, had been 'very upset' when her boyfriend decided to end their relationship after booking a skiing holiday for them.
She sent text messages reading 'he has absolutely destroyed me' and 'he was so loving towards me and then he does this'.
The court heard the special constable found it hard to cope with the aftermath of relationship break-ups when her self-confidence would evaporate.
A statement made by her friend Diane Hirst, which was read to the court, said: 'At 1pm on Thursday, March 24 I received a message from her that her boyfriend had split up with her and she was 'proper gutted'. She was very upset.
'It was clear that she was so shocked by what had happened. He had booked a skiing holiday for them. The next morning she said she couldn't stop crying.'
