A Dallas police officer suffered injuries that weren't life-threatening during a shootout in east Oak Cliff on Friday night.
Deputy Chief Thomas Castro said officers were conducting a property search in the 300 block of East Brownlee Avenue, near Ramsey Avenue, around 6:50 p.m.
One officer saw a shooting in progress and was engaged in gunfire when he confronted the gunman. The officer returned fire, striking the gunman.
Four men — including the officer — were taken to hospitals. Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said he could not release any information about their identities or injuries.
KTVT-TV (Channel 11) reported that the officer had not been shot but was injured by other means. Castro did not say whether the officer had been shot.
