A Republican headquarters in North Carolina was victim to an overnight firebomb attack Sunday, police said.
The Hillsborough police department told the Charlotte Observer a flammable liquid was thrown through the Orange County office window — which read “Freedom Speaks” — in the early hours of the morning. Images surfacing on social media show the interior of the headquarters completely charred and gutted by the subsequent flames.
“The firebombing of a local political headquarters in Orange County is clearly an attack on our democracy,” Gov. Pat McCrory tweeted following the firebombing, adding, "I will use every resource as governor to assist local authorities in this investigation."
