Tyler House, of Markham, showed up for her first day of work for training at Marcus Cinema earlier this month only to learn she'd have to change her hairstyle or else she couldn't work there.
House interviewed for a job at the company's new Country Club Hills movie theater location in September, but wasn't told about the hair policy until she came to orientation on Oct. 3, she said.
A spokeswoman for Marcus Cinema said the organization made a mistake in having a policy historically in place across all of its theaters that wasn't reevaluated before the new theater planned opening.
