The NYPD’s top cop met with the heads of the police department’s five unions Friday — just a week after one of them called him a “neutered” police commissioner over his handling of the police killing of a mentally ill woman in the Bronx, sources said.
Department sources expected the death of 66-year-old Deborah Danner to be one of the issues discussed at the private breakfast meeting between Commissioner James O’Neill and the union heads at 1 Police Plaza.
Sergeant’s Benevolent Association President Ed Mullins called O’Neill a “neutered commissioner” after the commissioner quickly condemned Sgt. Hugh Barry for fatally shooting Danner on Oct. 18.
