President Barack Obama landed at O’Hare Airport on Friday as he makes a rare weekend-long visit back home with Democratic fundraising on his agenda.Obama stopped in the Loop to cast an early vote in between two fundraising events.First lady Michelle Obama is not with him because she is on, Obama said at a fundraiser, a “girls weekend” at Camp David.Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s former chief of staff and Rep. Mike Quigley D-Ill., greeted the president on the tarmac after Air Force One touched down at 11:56 a.m. There were “several hundred cheering citizens” also on hand, according to the pool report, and Obama “worked the fence, shaking hands and smiling for a few minutes.”Obama, Emanuel and Quigley then helicoptered on Marine One to Soldier Field. Emanuel and Quigley headed to their vehicles as Obama headed to his first Chicago stop of the day.On the schedule: three fundraisers. On Friday, Obama is on the North Side for events to benefit Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid and the House Democrats. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is also in Chicago today for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee luncheon.On Sunday, Obama is on the South Side for an event to pour dollars into Tammy Duckworth’s Senate bid. This one is personal for Obama: He wants to defeat Sen. Mark Kirk R-Ill., and help Duckworth win the Illinois Senate seat he won in 2004.Also on tap: Obama has made a display of voting early in past years when he has been in Chicago prior to an election – and he did so again on Friday, voting at a Chicago Board of Elections polling place at 69 W. Washington.According to a pool report, “with hundreds of onlookers in the steers, Obama hurried into the Chicago Board of Elections office in the basement.“You guys are doing a wonderful job. Appreciate ya” Obama told the approximately dozen poll workers as he filled out paperwork.“What’s my date of birth? 8 4 81?” POTUS joked. “Nice try!” One of the workers said, to which Obama retorted he was “Shaving just a couple of decades off.”“After locating his machine and beginning to vote, POTUS looked up at the pool and cracked, “they can’t see who I’m voting for can they?” and feigned an effort to shield the screen.“Asked who he voted for, Obama looked up and smirked.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is further easing sanctions on Iran, making it easier for foreign firms to do business with the country following last year’s nuclear deal.Shortly before 6 p.m. Friday at the start of the Columbus Day holiday weekend in the United States, the Treasury Department published new guidance for businesses that said some previously prohibited dollar transactions with Iran by offshore banking institutions are allowed as long as they do not enter the U.S. financial system.The clarifications from Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control also remove a blanket ban on foreign transactions with Iranian firms that may be controlled by a person who remains subject to U.S. sanctions.Despite the nuclear agreement, which gave sanctions relief to Iran in return for it curtailing its nuclear program, the U.S. maintains sanctions on Iran and certain Iranian companies and people. They are known as “specially designated nationals” or SDNs, for a variety of reasons, including its ballistic missile program, human rights record and support for groups the U.S. deems to be terrorist organizations.The new Treasury language says foreign transactions with non-sanctioned entities that are nonetheless “minority owned” or “controlled in whole or in part by an Iranian or Iran-related person on the SDN list” are “not necessarily sanctionable” under U.S. regulations.Friday’s steps by the Treasury come amid growing complaints from Iran that it is not getting the sanctions relief it deserves under the nuclear deal because remaining U.S. sanctions have scared foreign companies from doing business in or with the country. The U.S. insists it has met its obligations and blamed Iranian behavior for the reluctance of foreign companies do to business in Iran. At the same time, it has sought to reassure foreign companies that certain transactions with Iran will no longer be subject to U.S. sanctions

Obama opened the door to governing by executive order.Via Breitbart:The batch of emails released by Wikileaks on October 7 includes one in which Hillary Clinton press secretary Brian Fallon explained that Clinton “would support…closing the gun show loophole by executive order.”Fallon also highlighted Clinton’s support of universal background checks–which have already failed in California, Colorado, Washington state, and Paris–and her support for a scenario wherein victims of crime would be able to sue gun manufacturers.In the email, dated October 4, 2015, Fallon mentions that Today had made clear they were going to ask Clinton about guns. At that time she was still locked in a tougher stance than expected primary opponent Bernie Sanders. Fallon wrote:Circling back around on guns as a follow up to the Friday morning discussion: the Today show has indicated they definitely plan to ask bout guns, and so to have the discussion be more of a news event than her previous times discussing guns, we are going to background reporters tonight on a few of the specific proposals she would support as President – universal background checks of course, but also closing the gun show loophole by executive order and imposing manufacturer liability.Breitbart News has previously reported that Clinton pledged gun control by executive order. She began pushing executive gun control right after the shooting in the Umpqua Community College gun free zone. Moreover, he did not acquire them at a private sale at a gun show, so any successful executive action against gun shows would have been powerless to stop the attack as well.
City police say anti-Muslim posters are offensive, but are not a hate crime
Anti-Muslim posters put up at the University of Calgary this week do not contain the language required to pursue a criminal charge under hate propaganda legislation, police say.
Students and staff at U of C were enraged Tuesday after 40 posters were discovered on campus, filled with obscenities and directives to Muslims to keep Sharia law, genital mutilations and beheadings in their “7th century” homeland.
University president Elizabeth Cannon stressed that campus security would be working with police to check surveillance camera footage and examine the possibility of criminal charges.
But according to Sgt. Eric Levesque, hate crimes co-ordinator with the Calgary Police Service, the Crown will not be receiving a recommendation to pursue hate-related charges.
“It is very offensive, that’s true, but if you remove the bad words, the message itself does not contravene Canada’s hate speech laws.”

Political correctness isn’t just about changing the nursery rhyme ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’ to ‘Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep’; or changing the word ‘history’ to ‘herstory’. It’s also about “affirmative action”, revising curricula (i.e. “canon busting”), police actions and sometimes imprisonments, “no whites allowed” university meetings, censorship, numerous bannings, the “no platform” policy, professors losing their tenure, and so on. (Now add two new kids on the block, ‘safe spaces’ and ‘cultural appropriation’.) In other words, PC has gone way beyond simply changing the words we use.
