Trump Campaign: New York Times Illegally Obtained Trump’s Tax Records
This is their big smoking gun? That he took a big legal deduction? How about who illegally took these and the NY Times involvement in this to help Hillary Clinton? How about what happened to the 6 billion of our money that Hillary Clinton ‘lost’ while at the State Department?
Via Daily Caller:
Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is accusing the New York Times of participating in illegal behavior after the newspaper published some of his tax records on Saturday night.“The only news here is that the more than 20-year-old alleged tax document was illegally obtained, a further demonstration that the New York Times, like establishment media in general, is an extension of the Clinton campaign, the Democratic Party and their global special interests,” the campaign said in a statement. On Saturday evening, the New York Times — which recently endorsed Hillary Clinton for president — published three pages of Trump’s 1995 income tax documents.
Hypocrisy: The New York Times Paid No Taxes in 2014
More MSM hypocrisy. The NYT pushes socialism, rails against capitalism and attacks Trump, yet they are in business to make a profit and will use the provisions of the tax code to avoid taxes… just like Trump and and any other knowledgeable capitalist.
The New York Times has excited the Clinton campaign and the rest of the media with a revelation that Republican nominee Donald Trump declared a $916 million loss in 1995 that might have resulted in him not paying taxes in some subsequent years. The implication, reinforced by CNN’s Jake Tapper on State of the Union on Sunday morning, is that Trump “avoided” paying taxes, when in fact his tax liability was zero. But the Times itself has “avoided” paying taxes — in 2014, for example. As Forbes noted at the time:… “for tax year 2014, The New York Times paid no taxes and got an income tax refund of $3.5 million even though they had a pre-tax profit of $29.9 million in 2014. In other words, their post-tax profit was higher than their pre-tax profit. The explanation in their 2014 annual report is, “The effective tax rate for 2014 was favorably affected by approximately $21.1 million for the reversal of reserves for uncertain tax positions due to the lapse of applicable statutes of limitations.” If you don’t think it took fancy accountants and tax lawyers to make that happen, read the statement again.”New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani defended Trump on Sunday, telling NBC News’ Meet the Press that Trump was a “genius” in business who was simply doing what the tax code allows every American to do by counting losses against tax liabilities, and bouncing back from failure to success. That would include the New York Times — which, however, is still struggling. As Jazz Shaw of HotAir.com notes, the Times — or whoever was its source — likely obtained Trump’s tax document illegally.
NY Times In September: We’re Willing To “Risk Jail” (Translate: Break Law) To Get Trump’s Taxes
So how long have they had it, and what did they do to get them? I wouldn’t necessarily accept their story of “someone mailed it to us”.Via WaPo:Dean Baquet wasn’t bluffing. The New York Times executive editor said during a visit to Harvard in September that he would risk jail to publish Donald Trump’s tax returns. He made good on his word Saturday night when the Times published Trump tax documents from 1995, which show the Republican presidential nominee claimed losses of $916 million that year — enough to avoid paying federal income taxes for as many as 18 years afterward.Federal law makes it illegal to publish an unauthorized tax return:It shall be unlawful for any person to whom any return or return information (as defined in section 6103(b)) is disclosed in a manner unauthorized by this title thereafter willfully to print or publish in any manner not provided by law any such return or return information. Any violation of this paragraph shall be a felony punishable by a fine in any amount not exceeding $5,000, or imprisonment of not more than 5 years, or both, together with the costs of prosecution.Sports Store Owner Cancels NFL Autograph Signing By Brandon Marshall After National Anthem Protest…
Another hit to the football playing social justice warrior.Via Fox5 Atlanta:When Stephen Martin, the owner of Prime Time Sports in Colorado Springs, Colorado, heard about Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall’s refusal to stand for the national anthem in protest of racial inequality in the United States, he immediately canceled the football player’s scheduled appearance and autograph signing at his store.“We scheduled Brandon Marshall’s autograph signing two months before the controversy happened during the football game,” said Martin. “After Thursday night’s opening game I decided to cancel this event and soon after my store phones and social media pages were lit up with the kind of words that no business owner ever wants to here. I got mushy and angry at the same time. There was overwhelming support honoring our flag and standing for our national anthem.”“I asked myself, how do I stand up for this cause? What am I going to do, so I came up with the photo idea ‘Honor the Flag’.”That’s when Martin took to Facebook as a plea and the idea of honoring the Flag and veterans.“If you are in agreement with me, then send me your photographs of your loved ones that are veterans, in active service who have been injured in the line of duty or who have paid the ultimate price.”[…]November is Salute to Service month with the NFL and Veteran’s Day is November 11th. Martin is hoping to get a color guard at the store and have them sing the National Anthem before taking down the window display.“I want both our voices to be heard,” said Martin.Currently, Martin has received over 680 photographs and received an additional 300 photos overnight.
