CHICAGO, IL — A 21-year-old illegal beaner in custody over a child sex abuse case faces new charges stemming from allegations he tried to have his accusers — the 15-year-old victim and her mom — killed, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Ivan Flores — held since March in Cook County Jail on $100,000 bail for aggravated criminal sexual abuse — was charged Friday with solicitation of murder and solicitation for murder for hire, the report stated. His bail also was reset at $500,000, the report added.
According to prosecutors, Flores allegedly discussed arranging the murders with two confidential sources for the Cook County Department of Corrections from July to September of last year, asking them if they had connections to motorcycle gangs that could pull off the jobs, the report stated. He allegedly told the sources he thought he would fare better in court if the victim was unable to testify, and he was upset at the victim's mother for pursuing the case in the first place, the report added.
In August, Flores allegedly claimed to one of the sources that he was a member of the Satan Disciples and admitted he was in jail for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in her basement, the report stated. Although the incident occurred in January, he explained to the source that he was arrested in March, the report added.
Eventually, the authorities arranged to have the source connect Flores with an undercover police officer posing as a potential hired killer and offering to carry out the murders for "$5,000 a head," according to the Tribune.
In a phone call recorded by police in September, Flores is heard working out the details with the undercover officer, the report stated. When asked about going through with the murders, Flores allegedly tells the officer, "Kill them both then," the report added.
According to prosecutors, Flores also confessed on videotape to authorities that he agreed to pay the undercover cop $5,000 to kill his accusers, the Tribune reports.
