OAK LAWN, IL -- Three men robbed an Oak Lawn barber shop at gunpoint Thursday evening, grabbing cell phones and cash, police said.
Oak Lawn police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Sport Cutz, 8834 S. Cicero Ave. Witnesses told police that three African-American men entered the business around 7:38 p.m. Jan. 5.
The purported robbers displayed weapons and demanded cash and everyone’s cell phone. No one was injured and the men fled the area on foot. Witnesses said they were in their early twenties. One of the suspects was said to be brandishing an AK-47; the other two were armed with pistols.
OLPD Division Chief Randy Palmer told Patch he doesn’t believe Thursday’s armed robbery in Oak Lawn is related to the fatal parking lot shooting in Evergreen Park that took place earlier in the evening.
Police released surveillance images of the alleged robbers. Anyone who recognizes these men or has information about the robbery is asked to contact the Oak Lawn Police Department at 708-422-8292.
