Caroline Wozniacki beat Venus Williams 6-4, 6-4 to win the biggest title of her career at the WTA Finals on Sunday. Caroline who is currently ranked sixth, broke Williams’ serve six times to seal
victory in just under 90 minutes, throwing her racquet into the air in celebration as she secured the final point.
Wozniacki had never beaten Williams in there seven meetings. Her win on Sunday prevented the tournament’s oldest-ever finalist 37-year-old, from regaining the trophy after nine years gap. Wozniacki has been in brilliant, aggressive form in Singapore, beating Elina Svitolina and Simona Halep at the group stage and Karolina Pliskova in the semi-finals.
It was only the 27-year-old’s second trophy this season after she won last month’s Pan-Pacific Open in Tokyo.
