Oak Lawn Division Chief Randy Palmer said the motorist suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the incident, which took place about 9:10 p.m. at 91st Street and Central Avenue. The motorist drove himself to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
The motorist told police that he and a friend had an argument with another individual at a Walmart store, Palmer said in a statement.
Minutes later, while they were stopped at a red light, a white Pontiac Aztec pulled up next to them containing male blacks. One of several shots fired from the Aztec at the vehicle struck the victim in the abdomen, Palmer said.
No arrests were reported. The investigation is continuing.
