PALM SPRINGS, CA — As many as 13 people have died in a bus crash along Interstate 10 Sunday morning, it's being reported.
The California Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 5:15 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway, west of Indian Avenue. Footage from the scene shows a mangled tour bus, which crashed into the back of a semi-truck.
Multiple fatalities have been reported. NBC News reports 13 are dead, while dozens more were hospitalized.
"The intrusion into the bus compartment is significant," CHP officer Stephanie Hamilton said."We know there are multiple fatalities, we cannot give a (final) amount, but that number is going to change," she said.
