A 25-year-old man and his brother, 20, were in a vehicle in the 7000 block of South Sangamon Street about 3:40 p.m. Monday when they were both shot, authorities said.
The 25-year-old, whose name was not immediately being made public, was initially taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was pronounced dead at 6:01 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
His brother, 20, was shot in the arm and taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, police said.
Another fatal attack occurred just after 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, when a 24-year-old man was killed and another man was wounded in North Austin on the West Side. They were in a white car in the 1800 block of North Laramie Avenue when someone nearby opened fire. The men were wounded, and the car crashed into a building. The younger man was shot in the buttocks and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later was pronounced dead. The other man, 36, was grazed in the head and taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.

About 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, a 14-year-old boy shot himself in the leg in Little Village. He went to St. Anthony Hospital in good condition after being shot in the 2800 block of South Central Park Avenue.
About 11:25 p.m. Monday, a 17-year-old boy was shot in Little Village. Someone in a red sedan fired shots at him in the 2600 block of South California Avenue, and he went to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right arm.
About 10:50 p.m., an 18-year-old and 19-year-old were shot in Gresham. The 18-year-old was sitting on a front porch in the 8500 block of South Loomis Boulevard when someone walked up and opened fire. The man was shot in the abdomen and both shoulders and went to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition. Shortly afterward, a 19-year-old man got himself to Little Company of Mary Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the arm and buttock after being shot in the same attack. He was listed in good condition.
Just before 10:20 p.m., a 34-year-old man was shot in the Kilbourn Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side. He went to Community First Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right foot after being shot in the 4400 block of West Belmont Avenue. His condition was stabilized.
Just after 10:15 p.m., a 42-year-old man was shot in Chicago Lawn. He was on the sidewalk in the 3000 block of West 62nd Street when someone shot him in the abdomen. He went to Mount Sinai Hospital and his condition was stabilized.
About 9:55 p.m., two young teen boys were shot in South Austin. The boys, ages 13 and 14, got themselves to West Suburban Medical Center after being shot in a vehicle in the 5500 block of West Lake Street. The 13-year-old boy was shot in the leg, and the 14-year-old boy was shot in the knee. Their conditions were stabilized.
About 8:55 p.m., a 19-year-old riding in a car in West Garfield Park was shot. The car was going north in the 100 block of North Cicero Avenue when someone in a nearby silver sedan fired shots. The man was shot in the buttocks and taken to Loretto Hospital. His condition was stabilized.
About 8:50 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the Marquette Park neighborhood. He got himself to Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand, according to preliminary information from police. The shooting occurred in the 7100 block of South Richmond Street.
Just before 8:15 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was seriously wounded in a South Austin shooting. Officers responding to the 800 block of North Central Avenue found him unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the back. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
About 8:10 p.m. on the Far South Side, a 24-year-old man was shot in Jeffery Manor. He was in front of a residence in the 2500 block of East 97th Place when he was shot in the ankle by someone in a passing van. He went to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition.
About 8 p.m., a man in his 20s was shot in Chatham. He went to Jackson Park Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, and was being "uncooperative" with investigators, according to police. He had been shot in the 8200 block of South Eberhart Avenue, police said.
About 6:15 p.m, three teens were shot in West Englewood. They were in an alley in the 7000 block of South Hoyne Avenue when someone on foot fired shots at them, police said. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the left arm and left leg, and an 18-year-old man was shot in the chest and left arm. Their conditions were stabilized. Another 18-year-old man was shot in the left hand. All three went to Advocate Christ Medical Center for treatment.
About 4:25 p.m., 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg in the 3000 block of West Flournoy Street in the Lawndale neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
About 4:15 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times in the 200 block of South Central Avenue in Austin. He was standing on the sidewalk when someone in a passing vehicle shot him in the chest, leg and arm. He went to West Suburban Hospital, then was transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
About 2 p.m., a 32-year-old man made it to West Suburban Medical Center with a gunshot wound. He said he had been shot in the 900 block of North Lawndale Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, according to police. He told officers that he was standing in front of a home when someone emerged from a gangway and fired across the street and hit him.
