At approximately 11:50 a.m. Oct. 28, a shooting occurred in the westbound Interstate 290 lanes just east of Harlem Avenue in Oak Park, police said. Illinois State Police Sgt. Jason Bradley said the shooting left one person hospitalized.
Police closed all westbound lanes of the Eisenhower for several hours to investigate the scene.
Three days later, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31, another incident occurred in the eastbound I-290 lanes at North Avenue in Elmhurst, police said. Police responded to a call of shots fired in the area, but found no reported injuries.
"The shooting [Oct. 31] on I-290 at North Avenue remains under investigation," Bradley said. "The shooting last week on I-290 at Harlem also remains under investigation with no additional information available. The shootings do not appear to be related."
According to Bradley, there were a total of four expressway shooting incidents in the Chicago area during the month of October.
